This year is going to be a great year for cannabis events and conferences around the world. The emerging legal cannabis industry is larger than ever before, and thanks to the work of global cannabis activists cannabis is now legal for adult and/or medical use in more jurisdictions than at any other time since the start of prohibition.
When it comes to cannabis events and conferences, not all of them are created equal. Before you pay the money for airfare, lodging, tickets, and whatever else, it is obviously important to know that it is going to be worth your time and resources. With that in mind, below are the best cannabis events and conferences in 2022 (keep in mind, we will likely add to this article as new events are announced).
Europe
Europe is home to the largest cannabis event on planet earth – Spannabis. Spannabis is taking place in Barcelona, Spain in March this year, and once again they are teaming up with the International Cannabis Business Conference to host the world’s largest superconference. It will have the best of everything – culture, entertainment, industry, policy, networking, good times, etc. The International Cannabis Business Conference also has events planned in Berlin and Zurich in 2022, with their Berlin event being the largest cannabis B2B event on the European continent. With cannabis legalization sweeping Europe, it’s going to be a very exciting year to attend any of these events.
South America
BizCann Expo is South America’s largest cannabis industry event and will take place from May 21-22 in Medellín, Colombia. Here is the description located on the event’s website, “Deep in the Andes mountain, the city of eternal spring is opening the floodgates of cannabis investment. With a surprisingly robust legislative framework, Medellin prepares to host an event that will bridge north & south american markets and jumpstart cannabusiness opportunities in the region.”
Africa
The Cannabis Expo is the largest cannabis industry series on the African continent, and 2022 events are scheduled to take place in Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, and Johannesburg. The event describes itself on its website as, “The largest comprehensive cannabis convention to take place in Africa, with global industry leaders and local government representatives from across the region presenting talks and taking part in moderated panel discussions every hour on the Convention Stage throughout The Cannabis Expo.”
Asia
The Asian continent is still largely in its infancy when it comes to cannabis reform and the emerging cannabis industry, however, Thailand is on a particularly fast track towards becoming a leading international cannabis hub. Cannabis Business Asia is the largest cannabis event on the continent this year and is billed as, “The leading event on the development of the Asian medical cannabis and hemp market.” The event takes place in March in Bangkok, Thailand.
Australia/Oceania
The Australian region is likely the farthest behind out of all of the continental regions on earth when it comes to cannabis policy and industry. With that being said, there is still a lot going on in the region and the HHI Expo is the place to be to learn, network, and find advantageous partnerships. The event is being held in Sydney, Australia in March.
North America
The North American continent is likely home to the most cannabis events and conferences on planet earth. Our favorites include anything put on by the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA). NCIA is the leading cannabis association in the United States and its events always have amazing speakers, panels, and exhibitors. Champs Trade Show is coming back to Las Vegas in February, MJ Unpacked is coming to New York City in May, O’Cannabiz is coming to Toronto in June, and MJBizCon is also coming back to Las Vegas for its annual event in November.
